Every year, thousands of ships finish their lives on South Asian beaches and especially in Bangladesh where they are broken down into pieces to be recycled. Hundreds of children are working in the yards to escape poverty. Children normally spend 12 hours a day in a toxic environment and work without any protection. The consequences of such a dangerous labour are obvious on their body, children suffer from injuries, headaches, dizziness, various diseases...If the children become « useless », they are sent back to their villages and become a financial burden for they families.
